Mini Ciudad Perdida of Paso del Mango

Mini Ciudad Perdida of Paso del Mango

I was getting many questions here at Finca Carpe Diem about exactly where and how one can visit the Mini Ciudad Perdida of Paso del Mango. Well, that prompted a little jaunt with a camera to document the path a bit better. If you plan on taking the 30 minute hike to what we call the mini Ciudad Perdida, then the following will be extremely helpful.

Road in Paso del Mango

It’s fairly simple to get to but is often missed. First, when leaving Finca Carpe Diem, follow the road down towards Bonda. After 10 minutes you’ll pass a yellow gate on the right (the path to Pozo del Amor). Keep following the road until you see the wooden barbed wire fence on the left that has collapsed a bit. Hop the fence and follow the trail up. The entrance to the ruins can sometimes be missed so make sure to keep your eyes peeled.

Ascending to the Mini Ciudad Perdida

More or less, it takes 10 minutes walking on the path until you reach the Mini Ciudad Perdida. Stay vigilant as there are a few things to spot along the way:

Indigenous Terraces

Along the path, there are two overgrown terraces that most people don’t even notice. There will be one on your right and a one on your left but a bit further down. Be sure to stop for a few minutes and enjoy their beauty.

Indigenous Stairs

You will approach the lengthy indigenous stairs leading up to the main terraces. It ascends quite high and it is beautifully entangled in vines and sprouting grass.

When you make it up the indigenous stairs, be prepared to be taken aback as you encounter a tremendously gorgeous view. Take some photos and continue a few metres more along the trail until you arrive at the first of three terraces. This one is the highest of the three although it does not have the best view since it is obscured by trees.

** Be careful around the rocks as they heat up under the hot sun quite a bit and can possibly burn your skin.

The second and third terraces are just as stunning. They sit on the side of the hill with a clear view of the surrounding mountains. This place is ideal for reflection and relaxation.
