Santa Marta

Santa Marta
The oldest surviving colonial city of Colombia

From Carpe Diem you can easily do a daytrip to santa Marta and visit the most interesting places, such as the Parque de los Novios, the beach avenue, the market and a few churches.

There are many hostels and hotels in Santa Marta and around, and it might be difficult to choose where to stay.

If you look for tranquility and top quality service in a very nice building we definitely recommend to stay in Casa Verde.

Another highly recommended option is Calle 11, a relatively new hostel in the Rodadero neighbourhoud. Calle 11 is an old Colombian villa with a huge swimming pool, a personalized atmosphere and very close to the beach. What else do you want apart of being in Carpe Diem?

If you want to stay in Santa Marta downtown and look for a hostel with a nice bar but where it is still quiet at night, the Hostel Villana is a nice option.

Brisa Loca is a mansion style of building, where you can easily make new friends and party, often all night long.

With everything from modern cafes and restaurants to the real traditional almuerzo spots, diversity in food is abundant throughout. A good choice to have lunch or dinner in Santa Marta might be Ouzo.

While being in Santa Marta, do not forget to check out the waterfront as it is a great place to sit down and enjoy the sun setting on the beautiful Caribbean Sea.
