Caoba nature reserve
Gene bank and medicinal plants
The Caoba Nature Reserve was created in 2007 by a biologist couple from Germany and Colombia. It was started in an effort to create a genetic bank of plants and contribute to the preservation of the local ecosystems.
Caoba natural reserve is located close to Santa Marta, only 15 minutes walking from Carpe Diem and on the path to Minca.
The nature reserve of Caoba tries to preserve a small part of the forests and wildlife of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and they offer several activities, including some scientific, recreational and healing practices.
