Finca Carpe Diem, which is located just outside of Santa Marta, has been growing rapidly for the past four years. During this time we’ve had the pleasure of hosting guests of various walks of life. The one thing that really stands out for us is the diversity in our guests and how they all really enjoy their time here. Below, we describe some of the types of guests that we get, what rooms and services best fit them and the various activities that they can do here at Finca Carpe Diem.

For the painter, illustrator, musician, photographer, doll maker and all other types of artists, Paso del Mango is an amazing place to garner inspiration. Ther is such a diversity in activities such as Mini Cuidad Perdida, Santa Marta Viewpoint, the beautiful Pozo del Amor, the isolated Cascada de Silvestre, and the amazing Caoba Nature reserve. There is no shortage of accessible yet isolated locations to explore and be inspired by here in Finca Carpe Diem and Paso del Mango. Also, Carpe Diem is a place where some artists would find a lot of materials to work with, for instance people come here and gather seeds of different wood species to make bracelets; others make ashtrays with bamboo and some have even built up skeletons with animals bones that they had found in the surrounding forests.

For professionals, it can be difficult to work on projects while travelling simply because of the fast paced atmosphere of the typical hostel. This is not the case at Finca Carpe Diem as the vibe is calm and tranquil. With the only WIFI in the area, you get to enjoy a beautiful setting while you work on the projects you love.
With various activities at less than an hour away, it’s easy to take a short break to the Mini Cuidad Perdida, Cacao farm, Natural jacuzzi, or Santa Marta Viewpoint. This way you can feel like you’ve not only taken advantage of being in this exotic location, but you don’t have to choose between a day of just working or just exploring, you can do a bit of both.
We understand that it’s hard travelling with the little ones especially in busy cities such as Santa Marta. Rest assured that we have activities that are easy and fun for the whole family. Take a short trip to the Natural jacuzzi not more than 5 minutes from our entrance, jump on a tour in our neighbours Cacao farm and learn how to make chocolate, take a short and easy hike to the Mini Cuidad Perdida or just relax in our hostel’s pool and soak in the rays. It’s a great place to hang out, settle down for a few days, and enjoy the time vacationing with your family. Also the owners Kobe and Nele have two children of 2 years and 5 months, and they are happy to help families in case they have any doubts or worries about children affairs.
It’s hard saving money as you travel to exotic places doing exotic activities. The owners know everything about it as they have backpacked all over South America in recent years with very little money – sleeping in tents, hammocks or just under the stars. Let us help with you with our economical dorms or camping area. Bring up food from Santa Marta to prepare in our guest kitchen and have full access to our facilities which include WIFI, a swimming pool, and a lounge area. All of the activities in and around Finca Carpe Diem are either free or cost next to nothing. It’s also a great place to reorganize and plan your next move to whereever your adventures will take you next.
To say the least, there are many gems to be discovered within Paso del Mango. Check out the Mini Cuidad Perdida, partake in our longer 7 hour loop walk to Jirocasaca, travel 5 hours by foot to or from Minca, or just simply explore the the beautiful untouched nature of this amazing region. On top of all that, you can discover some waterfalls, hidden in the forests – where only very few people have been before.

We definitely have some challenging hikes for you athletic types. Take a jog uphill to Pozo del Amor, take a dive into the refreshing water and jog back. Explore and carefully run up and down the indigenous staircases of the Mini Ciudad Perdida. Hike to Cascada de Silvestre and trek up stream to the three hidden waterfalls of Paso del Mango. Or challenge yourself with a timed hike up to the Santa Marta Viewpoint. If that’s not enough, dare to join Bram and Kobe running the loop hike of Jirocasaca which normally takes 7 hours but they do it running in only 3 hours. We bet someone can do it faster!

Have a romantic stay in one of our beautiful Cabanas, relax in our conveniently placed swimming pool, have a candle light dinner, enjoy the campfire at night, and discover the surrounding nature with your significant other. Paso del Mango and Carpe Diem is a an amazing place to share experiences with that special someone.
